Good morning from The Garden!

The Sunday School teacher was diligently teaching her youngsters the Bible lesson. The children sat there wide-eyed and attentive!

She began

-----The children of Israel---
Crossed the Red Sea
Beat the Philistines
Built the temple

-----But the teacher wasn't through yet------

She continued:

-----The children of Israel---
Fought the Egyptians
Conquered the Amorites
Stood up to the Romans

Little Savannah was sooooo impressed, but she raised her hand slowly.

The teacher said, "Yes, Savannah, what is your question?"

Savannah replied, "What I want to know is where were all the grown-ups!!!"

"And He said: 'I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.' " Matthew 18:2.

Have a blessed day!

Good morning from The Garden!

Cain was Adam and Eve's first born. Abel was the second son. Cain worked the soil and Abel kept flocks.

Both men brought offerings to God. God accepted Abel's and rejected Cain's. We are not told why God chose to reject Cain's offer--probably because of the attitude of the giving. More importantly we hear the voice of a loving father saying, "Try again."

"Then the Lord said to Cain, 'Why are you so angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it.'" Genesis 4:6.

God encouraged Cain to right the wrong and try again. Cain refused to hear God's voice and allowed sin to enter his door.

When you are told you are wrong, or when you have displeased God, take a good look at yourself and choose to try again. The reward will be waiting for you.

Have a blessed day!

Seek the Good of Others

Topic: Choices
1 Corinthians 10:24.
Good morning from The Garden!

A friend was walking down a deserted beach at sunset. As he walked along, he noticed in the distance a native man picking something up and throwing it back into the water.

As the friend approached more closely, he realized that the man was picking up starfish that had been washed up on the beach and hurling them back into the water.

The friend asked, "What are you doing?"

The man answered, "Sir, it is low tide and these starfish have washed ashore. If I don't throw them back, they will die."

"I understand," my friend replied, "but there must be thousands of starfish on the beach. You can't possibly get to all of them. Can't you see that you can't possibly make a difference?"

The local native smiled, bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw him back into the water, "Made a difference to that one!"

"No one should seek his own good, but the good of others." 1 Corinthians 10:24.

Good morning from The Garden!

"A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24.

A best friend has the same kind of unconditional love as a good brother(sister). He is faithful to your best interests at all times.

Aristotle wrote these words: "He has no friend who has many friends." I don't know that I agree with his observation, but the quote brings up a thought to ponder.

In "The Hare with Many Friends" John Gay tells of a hare that had tried to be friendly with all other animals. One day the hounds hotly pursued the hare. The hare asked for help from a number of animals that she thought were friends. Each animal refused to help, reassuring the hare that the next animal would rescue her. But none stopped to help, and the hounds came.

The "many" friends each depended on another to rally when things got tough.

It can be a little like this: "Someone needed to help; everyone wanted to help; anyone could have helped, but no one actually helped."

A Best Friend sticks close and will always help. We should cherish a true friend as we would a valuable possession.

Have a blessed day!

Proverbs 20:25
Good morning from The Garden!

"It is a trap for a man to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider his vows." Proverbs 20:25

Before you make the promise, consider the consequences of breaking the promise first.

This way your word can be trusted. Your "yes" will mean "yes" and your "no" will mean "no."

Dedication to God first, followed by dedication and loyalty to others-----

Have a blessed day!
