Good morning from The Garden!

Every year in July we celebrate our family reunion. More than one hundred adults and children ranging in age from infant to 89 years come together for a week-end of making memories.

As I await the arrival of many family members, I feel so blessed to be a part of a large family.

We meet once a year and celebrate our similarities and marvel at our differences.

We remember the good times and reflect on the troubled times.

I am once again reminded that God instituted the family first and
blessed it.

"God sets the lonely in family---" Psalm 67:6.

Have a blessed day!
I know that I will!

Diane

Good morning from The Garden!

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty." Psalm 91.

Faith in the Almighty God as Protector will carry us through all the dangers and fears of life. We trade our fear for faith in Him no matter what the source of our fear might be.

It's no wonder this Psalm is the chosen scripture for the ministry BANDANAS FOR BRAGG. This organization distributes bandanas with the Soldier's Psalm--Psalm 91 printed on each one.

The spokeperson for this ministry Mary Gray explains that the bandanas are practical, but each time they are received, a soldier is pointed to God and encouraged to have faith in God's protection.

We can all be encouraged when we think of being in the shelter of the Almighty God.

With this shelter over us, as we dwell in Him, we can feel safe.

Have a blessed day!

Diane

Grow In His Grace

Topic: Trust
Philippians 1:6.
Good morning form The Garden!

Erma Bombeck, a well-known humorist, often felt threatened by that perfect housewife and mother. You know the ones who could always find pen and paper next to the telephone or the ones whose children always displayed perfect manners----etc. She enjoyed making others laugh as she told of her disarray and her frustration trying to be this person. That person existed only in her imagination.

Well, we often fall into this category when trying to keep up with someone we think displays that perfect Christian attitude and lifestyle. We compare ourselves to others and find that we always fall short.

Max Lucado puts it this way, "There is no prison as endless as the prison of perfection. Her inmates find work, but never find peace."

How could they? They never know when they are finished!

"God began doing a good work in you, and I am sure He will continue it until it is finished." Philippians 1:6.

We face each day knowing that God works through us even in our weaknesses. Christ presented us with the finished product; He fulfilled the law of good works and replaced it with the gift of grace.

We climb the stairs each day, not in our own goodness, but in His Grace.

Have a blessed day!

Diane

Good morning from The Garden!

Several years ago a space capsule carrying star dust that had been collected over a period of time crashed because the parachute did not open.

I vividly remember the comment made by a news reporter when covering the story. It really caught my attention.

She said, "Scientists fear that the secret of the origin of the universe has been destroyed."

I thought at the time, "Well, I could have told them this secret for a lot less money than what it cost to send up that capsule!"

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth---" Genesis 1:1.

---And that's no secret!!! Enough said!!!!

Have a blessed day!

Good morning from The Garden!

You look into the face of small child holding a frog and making muddy footprints on the carpet----"Haven't I told you to keep the frog outside and haven't I told you to take your shoes off at the door?"

How many times before they actually hear, right?

Well, God speaks through the prophet Isaiah in the same way.

"Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded?" Isaiah 40:21.

There are no mysteries of the universe, only things God has tried to tell us and we listen not!

When Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 14 hundred ninety-two, many of his supporters feared he would never return home because he would just simply fall off when he got to the end of the surface of the earth.

But they missed something in God's Word---"He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth----" Isaiah 40:22.

The earth is round and always has been. A mystery, no, just God's information waiting to be received with a listening ear.

Have a blessed day!

Diane
